(Report Problem)If you've ever been to Sears Tower, it is such a rush to ride the elevator to the top and finally arrive to the viewing deck where you can observe North, South, East and West directions through protective glass. It's just as well that you are protected because with the way the wind blows, you do not want to feel sensory contact with the outdoors. The Empire State Building in New York City is the exception. With the solid rock foundation of the Island and less height than Sears, the wind blows at the top, but it heightens your experience on the viewing deck. Especially at night, the view from above is amazing and since you are outdoors, the sounds, smells and breezing air makes for an extroidonary experience. No where can you take in the entire city all at once but at the Empire State Building.

(Report Problem)I had mixed emotions about this one. I love this building, but I expected it to be used more as an office building. It was dishartening and dissilusioning to learn that half of it was empty, and that mostly it is used as a giant tourist attraction. Yeah, I'm a tourist I know. But at the Park the cartival atmosphere was not there.

(Report Problem)The most ignorant staff in New York. Every person is too busy to help. You are taken on a long walk up and down stairs just to buy a ticket. The whole experience is awful. Start by improving the attitudes of the staff and then get rid of that horrible “Tony” commentary.

(Report Problem)When I made a trip up to the observatory last winter, I waited almost an hour before getting tickets and the observatory was so pack it was hard to get good photo. I bet during summer lines will be longer. But on the bright side the view were breathtaking.

(Report Problem)It was worth the trip, but the waiting and standing in lines was a hassle.

(Report Problem)Well recently visited New York in Jan'05. Upon entering you join the first of queues! This is the initial one to go through security this took about an hour or so! Then if like me you did not have a pre booked ticket I joined the next queue this took about 40 minutes or so! Following that queue I joined the final queue to get into an escalator, a quick elevator that's for sure! For some reason you then get out at the 80 something floor get in another queue to get a photo took of you stood in front of a picture of the Empire State Building!! A quick queue that one(Thankfully!) Then you get the next elevator to the top! I attended at about 5pm so at that time of year it was dark but still one great view! After you have took in as much as you can it's time to get an elevator down you then check to see if you want your mugshot or not! Then get into the final elevator all the way down. The view is fantastic just allow a good 3 hours and wear comfy shoes as if you go on a similar day as I did you might be queueing a while!

(Report Problem)Great experience, and good value for money. The queues can be long, and the staff can be a little bit pushy, but once you get to the top you'll get some awesome views and life will seem a whole lot better.

(Report Problem)We ended up going at night - which was neat - but I had wanted to go during the day so I could more readily pick out landmarks. The line to get to the elevator to go up was 45 minutes long. Then when you finally get to the security guard there are two lines for the metal detectors. TAKE THE ONE ON THE LEFT. The detector is right there. The guard will tell you both lines are the same, but the RIGHT LINE takes another 15-20 minutes to make it through to get to the detector. The line is also setup so you HAVE to get your picture taken for a souveneir photo (which we did not get) that takes up even more time. Still it is a VERY recognizable sightseeing stop and should not be missed. Try to go mid-morning to avoid some of the lines.
