Due to the damage caused by Hurricane Wilma, the following description may no longer be accurate. Please consider this when making your travel plans. The Sheraton Cancún is a beautiful pyramid shaped hotel situated by the Caribbean shore. Located in the primary resort area, yet only 20 minutes from the airport, the hotel is no more than one mile away from the busiest shopping centers, restaurants and bars. The hotel facilities include several tennis courts, restaurants with an excellent view, sports and cocktail bars, swimming pools and large green areas. Some of the most famous attractions of this hotel are the Mayan archaeological remnants.

We were in the ocean front room. A bit small for 2 adults and 2 kids. But it was okay. It was nice to have a marble floor. They kept the place clean. The beds were confortable. No smell of any kind. The bathroom plumbing needed a little fixing. Had to ask for extra shampoo and conditioner ever day. They should realize this especially becasue people are at the beach/swimmimg pool the whole day. You go through a lot of shampoo and conditioner. They were good in providing extra stuff but you had to remind them every day. Also ,remind them to make-up the room every day. But things were taken care of. \n \nStaff was friendy and helpful. Check-in and out was quick and without problems. The bill was correct. The breakfast was a bit expensive US$11 per person. If you are a vegetarian better to go and eat in the mall or in downtown. Do not eat at Come and Eat place in the mall. Food service at the pool side was good. You have to remind the waiter because they sometimes forget your order. Prices for pool side food are okay. \n \nThey try to arrange a friendy water volleybay game. There is a ping pong table. Tennis court and miniature golf. Decent gym. \n \nAll in all would not mind going back to the same hotel but would stay in the towers in a room with balcony facing the ocean. They have two swiming pools. We liked the pool in the old hotel not the Towers pool. \n \nThe beach is decent and clean. AFter about 3PM the beach is covered by the hotel shadow. We liked this.
05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! Useri have always thought of sheraton cancun as a "resort" as it claims to be. but my recent experience proved that to be hoax. the refrigerator which they have did not work at all. i called the hotel front desk and i was promised a prompt repair. three times i called, three times they promised. still nothing happened. the bathroom smelt because the fan stopped working. food which was plentiful but pricey and not that tasty. their octopus felt like chewing gums after the taste was gone. their shrimps were cold (this was not the desert). the window was loose and at nights it made terrible noise as the metal window frames were banging together. with my previous experience with the refrigerator, i decided to fix it myself with some folded paper stuffed tight between the frames and that worked. oh, by the way, with the weather in cancun 80-85degree, our hotel room air conditioner was not working. \n \ni would not go there if i were you.
