Carretera Chivirico, Km 60, Santiago de Cuba, Cuba…
More and Maps
Close to the Sierra Maestra, the most important mountain range in Cuba, is this popular resort. Thanks to its geographical location, it has become a favorite spot among the country's holiday makers, surrounded as it is by the unspoilt wilderness of the mountains, and close to local hunting grounds and the nearby Quiebra Seca Bay. The architectural style of the resort blends in with its surroundings, occupying terraces that have been cut into the steep contours of the land. All the rooms have a view of the sea, and are divided between two blocks, surrounded by palm trees, and connected by a spacious, glass-walled lobby.

05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserThe great things about sierra mar were the people were verry friendly even the tourists. The weather was a constant 35.C light clouds and no rain for 2 weeks in march. Good healthy food and lots of rum and beer with great musicians and entertainers. The beach could have been nicer but was good enough for me(darker sand). The corral reef around the beach was good for snorkeling. I met manny people outside the resort in the countryside and learned alot about the areas culture. A few of the people would ask for clothes money or other essentials but were usually offering cigars or coffee in exchange and were not too bothersome. If you like baseball youll love cuba they go rabbid like canadian hockey fans, will invite you to play ball with them even lend you a glove and its pennys to see a pro ball game in the city. The rides to the city were a little long and rough but interesting (sometimes you felt like you were in a time warp). In the city you would run into some eager tourist guides on the street but they actually show you some different places around the city. I miss the people who live there and plan on returning soon too see them again. All in all it was a great place and I felt safe and welcome everywhere I went.
