This upscale resort is a destination in itself. The fact that it is close to the park makes it even more spectacular. The service is exquisite and the setting spectacular. Rooms are decorated with antiques and mementos of the Gold Rush days. Those on the upper floor have spectacular views. The concierge will help you arrange activities in and out of the park. There are two pools (one indoor and one outdoor) and two restaurants on premises. This resort is child-friendly and has activities planned for various age groups.

As a person from the UK, the one thing I really enjoy about going to the US is the service in the hotels. This one has the same level of service as a one star Parisian hotel. The first night we stayed, we ate in the restaurant, my wife had a shank of lamb and I though I’d be adventurous and try elk. The lamb shank still had the stamp on it and had not been properly cooked, the elk was fine, but both dishes came with vegetables that were past their best. I can say that the vegetables were close to being rotten. We had driven all day from San Francisco and this was the only food we knew of for miles. The second night we stayed we decided to play it safe and go to the bar and have a burger, I was served by somebody who had obviously not washed his hands , they were black with grime, god knows what he had been doing. The burger was served yet again with un-fresh salad. We went to bed woke up at 3am and drove the hell out of there.
25 Jan 2007 | A Yahoo! UserThat hotel is awful. I couldnt use a shower in the room at 11am. And I made a call to front desk. They said " Hot water was stopped a couple hours ago. you can take a shower at fitness club" WITHOUT apology!! You gotta be careful. Your vacation will be with no hot water and awful service!!
