This is a lovely hotel, newly refurbished BUT has several problems which make it awful! We were put in a room at the front of the hotel. The room itself was smart, however, we were awake from midnight until 4.30 a.m. with the sound of people very noisily leaving the nearby pubs and nightclubs. When we complained to reception they said that 'yes it is a city centre hotel afterall and each weekend the police have to patrol the street and the night porters have to stop drunk young people from trying to enter the hotel'. To add to this problem the room was cold and the breakfast service was very slow. If you go insist on a room at the back of the hotel.
16 Mar 2008 | A Yahoo! Userthe hotel was faultless, although do not accept room 116 as the view from the windows were large metal chimneys from the kitchen which blocked both of the room windows and also made a constant noise, horrendous!
11 Nov 2007 | A Yahoo! UserAn unusual Intercontinental property. The public spaces are old but very stately. The restaruant was once an Edinburg bank. The rooms have not been remodeled in some time and the wear is evident. We were there in June and while it wasn't hot, the rooms were stuffy but a fan was made available. \n \nOur room offered a great view of the sea and the sunsets were spectacular! Breakfast was included in our package and was well worth the extra cost. The front desk personnel was very responsive and informative. \n \nThe rooms need an update but the location is great. We would have no problem making a return visit.
