St. Regis Hotel Washington, DC opened in 1926 and has been host to political figures and royalty ever since. Designed in the Italian Renaissance fashion, it is exquisitely furnished. Rooms feature both classic and modern amenities from Italian marble baths to fax machines. Each looks like it could easily be a guest room in some foreign dignitary's French chateau. The hotel is located near the White House and the National Mall. Though the rooms have astronomical rates, the luxury and class they promise is unmatched.

The St. Regis is a smaller size upscale hotel with the historical charm of old Washington. The service is impeccable in the hotel and restaurant. The suggestions from the staff for dinner off site were perfect. An absolutely luxury. We loved every aspect of the hotel. Easy to find.
06 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserThe Washington St. Regis was fine, but certainly not up to the standards of the St. Regis in NYC. Rooms seem to range from teeny to small--our first room had no sitting area, no closet, and a broken armoire. When we called to see if something better was available, we were told it would have no view--since the first room had a lovely view of a brick wall, we jumped at the no view room. It was a bit larger (at least it had a chair)! On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the toiletries were top-notch.
06 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserIf you're ready to take a break from the typical big-city corporate McLodging the St. Regis couldn't be a better choice. Small and intimate with a highly personalized feel, it's almost like visiting a rich relative for a few days. While the rooms aren't large they're sumptuous. The in-house restaurant is formal and dressy (ties for the gentlemen), but has a terrific kitchen and great wine list. Location just north of the White House is unbeatable.
