IF you are looking for a hotel newly built with all the modern features this is not the hotel for you.If you are looking for the \nOld world charm of a European hotel choose the Stoneleigh.Bathroom had a mixture of antique and upgraded fixtures, nice sized room and plenty of closet space, electrical outlets, windows actually opened.attentive staff, knowledgable concierge.upscale neighborhood with several eateries within walking distance.safe well lit self parking very close to the hotel in addition to valet parking.free shuttle within 5 miles. Downside- the thermostat was non functional and would definetly be a problem in the hotter months as there were no ceiling fans either!if you are allergic to animals, require an orthopedic mattress or are a light sleeper (i could hear noise from the hallway) this is not the place for you.
06 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserI would recommend avoiding this hotel. My cousin was recently married in Dallas and he held his reception on the top floor of the Stoneleigh hotel, and therefore he recommended that family members stay there as well. We stayed at the Stoneleigh for three miserable nights, and I can say it was just about the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. First of all, you cannot control the room temperature from your room. You have to call the front desk, and they say they will warm up/cool down the room but then nothing seems to happen. The family members on one side of the hotel were freezing the whole time while the people on the other side were sweating. Next, the hotel is very poorly maintained and everything is old and very worn. Third, there is no sound proofing whatsoever. Be prepared to hear every conversation in the rooms next door as well as the hallways. We were stuck in a room right next to the elevators, and we could barely sleep because drunk, loud, & obnoxious people kept getting off the elevators. The people at the front desk were useless and tired of hearing complaints. While waiting in the lobby, it was actually sort of amusing to hear person after person coming to the person at the front desk with a complaint: poor water pressure, no hot water, clogged drains, freezing/hot rooms, etc. Avoid this hotel!
