Staying at the Plaza San Francisco was one of the best desitions made during my trip to Chile.
06 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserIn 1999, we went to Chile for the first time and happened to secure lodging on the first night and last night of our visit at the Hotel Plaza San Francisco. If you feel you have the need to be treated like a special guest, this is the place for you! It is close to public transporation (excellent in this large metropolis) and the staff couldn't be more accommodating and friendly, even if you don't speak their native language. Also, when encountering the staff, you feel you are overdressed! The gentlemen who are stationed at the reception desks are dressed like Wall Street! But, they are most friendly and will go out of their way to assist you with any need you may encounter. In the City, we were most interested in seeing the museums, government buildings, etc. that attract the people to this destination; we received a most comprehensive 4-hour tour of the City, which prompted us to stay another day just to take in the sights. The Hotel was very European in stature and comfort and the food couldn't have been a better selection of modern and traditional Chilean. Although you are in the relative heart of the City, it doesn't feel like it.
