Located in the heart of Mission Valley, this freeway-close, yet secluded resort is a pleasure for both business travelers and vacationers. Thirty-two acres of lush grounds surround the high-rise or bungalow-style accommodations. Free airport shuttle and breakfast buffet are part of the package. Nearby shopping malls, stadium, and local attractions provide plenty to do. This hotel hosts many small conventions and trade shows throughout the year at its adjacent convention center.

This is located in Mission Valley with great access to anything in the San Diego area. \nIt is a beautiful campus with a garden setting and beautiful flowers always in bloom especially the roses. \nThe service in the restaurants is usually fairly slow but all of the employees are very pleasant \nThe rooms have been recently remodeled and are very comfortable with nice decor.
05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserThis place actually seems to operate as a small self-contained meeting and conference center, located between two freeways and a light rail line. Having stayed there during a conference, if a group I'm in comes back to this location, I will stay elsewhere. \n \nThe concept of the place is based on the entire group being in one location. The reality seemed to be that this meant that you and your group are a captive audience, at least that was my experience. From check-in through check-out, there was a parade of previously undisclosed fees. Moreover, everything costs here: local calls, 800 calls, on-site health club, internet access, and also for some other things you would not expect. And even when leaving, three of us were steered to an airport shuttle service advertised on the hotel's web site, when a cab would have worked better, cheaper, faster. \n \nThe on-property food varied from fair/good at best to undistinguished, service was not good, prices were high. By the end of the first day, a large proportion of our group was streaming across the footbridge to the north of the property to visit the nearby mall food court for breakfast lunch and dinner--opting for several days of mall food instead of eating on property. \n \nMany of the rooms are in what look like gussied-up cinder block buildings, and do not have individual room heater/cooling controls. Noise from the freeways and light-rail abounds--not in conference center, but in rooms, especially above ground level. And also noise from the convention groups, whether it's your group or another group. \n \nThe hotel seems to put a lot of emphasis on selling to group leaders and meeting planners. The actual experience on-site may be different from that presented during an on-site pre-convention visit. A meeting planner might want to get a thorough tour of all rooms on property in different buildings, eat at each of the restaurants, ask to review a schedules of all charges that would be applied for the meeting and for all guests, and be clear that charges not disclosed in advance to the group or to members won't be paid. Although I won't bring a group here myself, if I need to attend a convention here in the future, I'll find another hotel elsewhere on the trolley line (since the hotel charges for day parking, and since the other hotels on Hotel Circle would seem to have some similar location problems), and ride to the conference. Most likely, though, I would tell the conference organizers that I wouldn't be coming that year, and why.
05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserWe got a cheap deal online with this hotel, flight, and car to San Diego. The hotel's appearance inside and out is very clean and nice. It has pretty lush gardens everywhere and the room we stayed at looked decent. We mostly went on this trip to sleep in and relax. Unfortunately, our rooms were right above the convention center meeting rooms and we were woken up every stinking morning by the attendees blabbing outside our room early in the morning and during breaks. My major complaint was the bed and the sheets. We decided to get one king size bed...big mistake....the bed sunk in the middle so it was like sleeping on an incline (hello backpain!) and to make matters worse, the sheets were so stinking startchy I swear that sleeping in potato sack would have been more soft than those sheets. So basically, if you don't mind bed comfort and noise, this is the place for you. If you do go, make sure your room is far from any convention and you get two beds or just get drunk enough to block out the noise and the bed! Oye Vey! Finally, their little sports bar is okay, esp. if you like to play pool, eat fried food and drink.
