First off, check-in did not run smoothly. I waited for 25 minutes to check-in because the front desk had problems checking in the person before me. \n \nWell, I am a gold member for Starwood and they should have had someone else checking in people at 3pm. Especially for SPG members. Come on?! \n \nWhen I finally got to the check-in counter, I told the guy there that I was not happy having to wait and that the Westin should be better organized. You know what he said, "That is your problem not mine." \n \nThat just started off the rest of my 3 days there. \n \nThe concierge was useless when I asked for a good restaurant to take out clients -- he ended up reserving a crowded dumpling place (good food yes, but too messy and loud for a business meeting where everyone was wearing suits). \n \n \nLike the reviewer above, my internet didn't work most of the time, even though I was on an executive floor. \n \nThis was the worst expereince I have ever had in a Westin. I will never stay there again. Next time in Taiwan maybe I stay at the Sheraton.
05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserMy experience at the Westin Taipei was probably the worst I have ever had at a hotel. I do NOT recommend this hotel. There are much better values in Taipei, such as the Sherwood Hotel or the Hyatt. \n \nThe service at the Westin was downright awful. When I asked the concierge twice about good restaurants, I was given a newspaper and told to find out myself. \n \nThe staff at the front desk were rude upon check-in when I inquired about the area and was confused on questions I asked -- in both Chinese and English. \n \nThe hotel itself was reasonably nice. Good location. But horrible, rude service.
05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserThe hotel is broadly very good, the staff are very helpful and friendly and speak excellent English. The room-service menu is average, but there's lots of choice in restaurants throughout the hotel and local area. I marked this down to 3 stars because the Internet service in my room was not functional during my entire stay, despite numerous visits from technicians, but full marks to the apologetic staff for trying so hard to fix the problem.
