More and Maps
The historic and magnificent Hotel du Vin is located in The Sugar House, a formerly derelict sugar refinery and tobacco storage house dating back to the 1700s. Within the premises is the Sugar House Bar and the acclaimed bistro offers quality food and an extensive wine list. The rooms themselves are really something special which is why this place is the choice for visiting celebrities. Each are individually named and sponsored by a wine house and are perfect examples of stylish but luxurious minimalism.

My starter was a fantastically creamy piece of goats cheese on top a delicously crisp and fresh baby spinich and rocket salad, with a beautifully sharp mustard and balsamic dressing. For my main I had the best piece of game bird ive ever eaten (partidge), crispy but wonderfully tender. This was served with a meaty red wine jus and sweet celeriac purree. The dessert was better still, eton mess. A brilliant concoction of merangue, strawberry, thick cream and a strawberry coolie all mixed together and plonked on the plate with even more strawberry coolie. This was by far the best meal i have eaten in Bristol, nah in the UK. Go there for the out-of-this-world cuisine, but don't forget that there rooms are the best in Bristol as well.
