Nestled in one of the streets off the main beat, the inn has been known for years for its excellent accommodations and personalized service. All rooms have ocean views and some offer fireplaces. The location is spectacular, and the staff was friendly and polite. That's about all this inn has on the positive side for us. A cold night prompted us to turn on the heat. It took some time before we figured out it was the heater that was making the occasional huge banging noises, causing us to fly out of bed. (Sounded much like a gun shot.) Had to turn it off and spend a very chilly night huddled under 2 blankets. Even if you go in warmer weather and don't need heat, this inn may not be your best value. It's more like an outdated, somewhat shabby motel with carpet in need of replacing and sparse rather unattractive furnishings, especially for the cost! Even the breakfast was disappointing, dry and flavorless pastries. This was not the highlight of our trip.
05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserIt's a sweet hotel nothing exceptional realy, but location worth the price. Nice, clean & quiet hotel. It's located across the street from the beach. Makes it realy easy to have a nice walk. We also walked to all the nice La Jolla shops and restaurants. The scenery is beautiful. If you wake up early enough you'll even find a good selection in a breakfast room.
05 Jun 2005 | hiempacA nice cozy small hotel. There is not much to it except it's superb oceanfront location. Nice rooms but no luxury one would expect for this kind of money. Make sure your room is actually facing the ocean, at least you will know what you're paying for.
