Upon arrival, since I love the beach, I was somewhat disappointed with the water clarity and cleanliness. I was also hit with a petroleum smell now and then while snorkeling and lounging at the beach. Wear sandals in the water- trash and broken glass are waiting for you in some spots. The only beer available is Red Stripe. If you like Shaeffer or Natty Bo you'll like Red Strip. If not you're SOL unless you go to the local store and buy Corona for $3/ bottle(worth it to me). There is no Captian Morgan Rum. Now that my negatives have been addressed I'll talk about the positives. The service is great, the staff are friendly and very helpful. The food in my opinion is varied throughout the different rest. available and was quite tasty. I'm 6' 240 lbs and love to eat. I usually ordered 2 entrees and always left full. Eat the Spaghetti Bolognese at the 4c's Rest!! Kimonos great time! The room was very nice(King Bed) and what a view(Patio ocean front). \nRick's is closed for repairs but for a night off the resort go to Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville. There you will find any liquor or beer you want and the food is good also.(10 minute ride-$10/person) Plenty to do(big dance floor and DJ spinning all the dance and Bob Marley you can handle). Snorkeling trips were unlimited and went to both sites. The fish were small, but colorful and the water clarity was good(30-40ft visibility). \nOverall great experience from arrival at Montego Bay to departure. Just wish the beach are was a little larger(very narrow) and the water was a little clearer and cleaner than it was.
05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserThe nicest thing I can say about Sandals Negril Beach Resort and Spa is that it was very clean and well taken care of. We arrived at this hotel (3 days before our wedding) and were put in the most pathetic room I have ever seen. We booked a Beachfront Concierge Suite with balcony and were given a room with one tiny window that overlooked a barbed wire fence. This room was no where near the beach. We were told after complaining that this was an upgrade. When we told the manager we just wanted the room we paid for, we were told there were none available until the next day. After MUCH complaining, we were moved to a very nice room for the evening. Then, the next day, we were again moved, but this time into the room we had paid for. It was a great room with a great view, but on the 3rd night in this room, the phone did not work. Since we had paid for room service, having no phone kind of defeated the purpose. After complaining everyday for 3 days, we were finally told that they could do nothing about the phone and we were again moved into another room. \nThe food at this resort was mediocre and most employees seemed like all of the guests were some how bothering them. It was a very dissapointing stay~!
05 Jun 2005 | leahmartin9999This was my first time trying a Sandals Resort and we loved it. So much so we have been to our Sandals resorts 2 more times since. \n \nThe staff at Sandals are always super friendly and very gracious hosts. The beach at Negril is bar none one of the best beaches I've ever been to. The pool staff is great and the bar there is a lot of fun. This is definitely for someone who plans to spend time only at the resort and truly enjoy what it has to offer. \n \nGreat time and great place!!! Spend more money and get the ocean views, very much worth every penny!!!
