Nestled on Molokai's northwestern shore near Kawakiu Beach, these rustic villas in the Kaluakoi Resort are adjacent to the resort's highly rated golf course. The property consists of double rooms, studio units, suites and cottages, all with lanais and fully equipped kitchenettes. Each spacious, airy unit is tastefully decorated with brightly colored sofas and rattan furnishings. In a wonderfully secluded spot for strolling on the expansive white sand beach, snorkeling or swimming, the villas are a short drive from the myriad of activities at Molokai Ranch.

Our condo was right on the golf course near the place where you picked up your carts. This meant early morning noise, but being near the crashing surf almost made up for it. A first floor room meant listening to the sprinkler system at odd hours during the night. \n"The Ranch" was about a 10 minute drive, and going there for lunch was pricey but worth it. The grocery store there (and elsewhere on the island) was small and somewhat expensive. \nOn property was a small but had a nice pool, a gift shop and a convenience store. The convenience store had very little in the way of food, which was too bad since the condos (at least ours) had a full kitchen. Ours also had a TV in the living room and bed room, and a VCR in the living room. Ours had a phone but the sign at the check-in counter mentioned some rooms did not have phone service. Our unit was not air conditioned but did have ceiling fans, which in April kept us cool enough (with open windows) most of the time. The pool was a welcome respite in the hot afternoons. \nI was amazed at the turkeys walking around on the property, as well as the abundance of frogs on the golf course at night. We never did see the small deer that supposedly wander in the area. As is the case on many of the Hawaiian islands, there were also many stray cats. \nThere were many buildings, a second gift shop and a restaurant that were closed/abandoned. This gave parts of the property a run-down feel, but overall everything that was being used was well maintained. The sunsets can't be beat. \nIf you are looking for a quiet place to relax (and perhaps play golf) this is it. If you are looking for luau's, surfing and shopping, try another island.
