During the Spanish Civil War, famous newspaper correspondents like Hemingway, Orwell and Malraux all stayed in the simple, comfortable and brightly lit bedrooms offered by this traditional three-star hotel. It has an ideal central location on Gran V surrounded by shops, bars, restaurants, theatres, cinemas and historic monuments. It's close enough to walk to Plaza de España, Puerta del Sol, the Palacio Real and the Teatro Real. The building itself dates from 1925. Buffet breafast: (EUR 9.01).

Great hotel and great position!

From the moment we went out the metro station and found this gorgeous hotel in front of us until the moment in which we had to leave, we had a lot of fun and we really enjoyed our stay at tryp gran via.. I surely recommend it!

food posioning and theft

I stayed there during the summer of 2003. My final morning there, me and several other guests awoke to a horrible bout of food poisoning caused by fowl chicken served in the hotel restaurant the night before. Additionally, I know of two guests who had laptops stolen from their rooms during their stay. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!
