The Ashok has the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Connaught Place, Pragati Maidan, the airports and the railway station in its vicinity. It is hailed as the epitome of regal grandeur of India. Built in red sandstone, the architecture is unique, breathtaking and a reminder of the Mughal era. The walls are rose-pink and the building is resplendent with arched arc-turreted contours. It has 12 award-winning restaurants along with Capitol one of the hottest nightclubs in the capital.

Ashok hotel Delhi should be renamed A Shocking Hotel

The guidebooks states that this is the premier hotel in Delhi. A 5* deluxe hotel. This must have been written in the 1970's when the hotel opened. The rooms have damp patches, burnt out electrical sockets and seem to have not be redecorated since opening. Cleanliness is very low, dirt and dust everywhere and the bedsheets were stained with blood. Reception staff rude and unhelpful unwilling to change rooms until 23 people in our group complained at the same time. Substutute rooms not much better and very hot as A/C not working and only aided in spreading the dust. Breakfast room chaotic, no cups, hot food left to get cold as burners not lit. Reception staff did not even know if there was a bar in the hotel. A government managed hotel, need I say more? \nLooks can be deceptive, the lobby area is nice however behind this facade, things go downhill very rapidly.
