In New York, old world charm in an apartment meant OLD, a water closet( no bathroom)and a tub in the kitchen. The Ritz Landis has lots of charm and is very comfortable, not like those owc apartments. \n \nThis is an older hotel of 1930's Paris style. If you like Old World classic elegance, the Ritz Landis is for you. Friendly, gracious service. Check-in at a private desk with staff escort to your room. Elegant furnishings. The 2 room suites are very comfortable. \n \nIf you like new and fresh, you'll hate the place. It is comfy like your grandmother's house. I liked it nevertheless. \n \nOn a few cold nights in winter, there is no heat. The neighborhood is rather shabby, but safe and interesting. If you are into walking, its better to eat in the excellent hotel restaurants. You can walk to the old Combat Zone (now "the Pub District") if you want to visit a hostess bar, be chased down the street by a "welcoming" mama while calling out "Charlie Brown" or in general, get harassed by enterprising bar girls selling drinks. I don't recommend it.
