Built in 1931, this deluxe hotel enjoys sweeping views over Yemin Moshe and the Old City and is today the Dan Hotels chain's flagship hotel. The interior evokes the period of King David with influences taken from Assyrian and Hittite decoration. It is also a historic landmark. From 1936 until the end of the British Mandate period in 1948, the British Army used part of the hotel as its headquarters and in 1946 the Jewish Underground movement bombed the hotel, killing 91 people. Popular with dignitaries and celebrities, guests have ranged from Tony Blair and Ralph Lauren, to rock group Metallica.

Memorable stay

My wife has been talking about staying at King David in Jerusalem for 30 years. \n \nWe finally did it! The view of the Old City was incredible. The redecorated room was just great. \n \nAn expensive but memorable visit.

excellent if you don't mind the price

The only con to this hotel is the inexplicably high pricetag. Other than that, it's all pros. This hotel is the place to be if you find yourself in Jerusalem. The rooms are elegant, the staff classy, everything perfect. It is in the heart of the city, close to everything you may find yourself needing to do or see. I highly recommend you check out their gift shop, as well, for highly priced, yet unique souvenirs.
