27 St Stephen's Green, Dublin, 2, Ireland…
More and Maps
Established in 1824, the Shelbourne Hotel has become a landmark in the city center. The Irish Free State constitution was drafted here in 1921 and politicians still frequent the Horseshoe Bar on the ground floor. This hotel has the impeccable style and service you would expect from an exclusive hotel, but even if you can't afford to stay the night, it's an excellent place for afternoon tea or a few decadent martinis.

05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserWhen my buddy asked me to go to Ireland for St. Patricks Day, and told me we were staying in a 5 star hotel, I was thrilled and really excited. When we first arrived, we were put in a room so small and stuffy, we immediately complained. Got a second room. Not much better, but tolerable. Water pressure is horrible. The 3rd night we were there we had holes in the sheets. The staff was rude. Luckily Marriott has bought this and can save this historic hotel. We actually were kicked out the last night due to a renovation schedule (they are closed for 18 months), and they put us in the Holiday Inn. I was more comfortable there. On a good note, the location is fantastic, right across from St. Stephens Green and 2 blocks away from Grafton St. Make sure to go into Captain Americas and say hi to Con (the bartender). Since we were travelling on Marriott points the room was free fortunately. If I would have paid cash for this room, I would of flipped out and demanded a refund immediately.
