Since 1928, this Berkeley landmark has provided accommodations to upscale business travelers, vacationers and those visiting on University-related business. One of the largest buildings on Durant Street, the rooms have panoramic views of San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland and the Bay. Its location cannot be beat, as you are only one block from the University, near Telegraph Avenue, a few blocks walk from the Elmwood Shopping District, as well as institutions and Pacific Film Archive. The rooms are elegant and nicely appointed, with comfortable furniture and bright windows; most rooms have views.

Best hotel close to UC Berkeley

This is an old but elegant hotel. The rooms are well decorated and clean but somewhat small by today's standards. Some of the rooms on the upper floors have a very nice view of the city and the bay. The hotel is situated right outside UC Berkeley campus.

There are many good places to eat and many things to do in the area. For good food, head down College Avenue for a few blocks to find a cluster of restaurants (College and Asheley). Or, head to Shattuck Avenue for more choices.
