Guests can stay in the main hotel or choose the smaller more private cabanas. A limestone formation just off the shore allows for great snorkeling and diving or you can explore the underwater reefs with Sand Dollar Sports. Standard rooms include queen or king size beds in bright colors with private ocean view. Guests can enjoy an excellent meal at the romantic Las Gaviotas restaurant.

Lovely place that we look forward to returning to someday. We were pleasantly suprised to find our room on the second floor, right above the beach - perfect for watching sunsets with a cold beer. \n \nIt's not overly fancy or exclusive feeling, but we really liked that aspect. The room was large enough to accomodate all our scuba toys as well as the usual stuff. \n \nIt is a bit further out from town, but worth the distance as it's a little quieter and doesn't get the cruise boat traffic. (A VERY nice aspect!) \n \nAlso, eat at Cafe Denis in town if you have the chance - the enchiladas mole are excellent!

I read all the reviews on this page and others then I booked a cabana for 7 days, I was in no way disappointed! I hate repeat what everyone else has said but the place is great. Superb snorkeling right out front. Very “Bond-ish” in décor. The staff was unusually nice for place of this size. I read in one part that the cabanas didn’t have phones but ours did and the other room we saw did. While we were there they had just installed internet ports in the open air lobby so for a couple of bucks. Had I chosen I could have checked my email there instead of one of the cyber cafes in San Miguel. The hotel is in the north hotel zone so there is less traffic than the south zone. Sol Cabanas is a wonderfully quiet spot in paradise that is not to be missed. Everyone we talked to had stayed in large hotels on the island upon first visiting Cozumel but heard about this place and they never went back to the big places again. My visit April 28th –May 5th ‘04 was the first week of the slow season and it was almost like having the place to ourselves. The cruise ships dock everyday during the week so we had a nice influx of interesting people (off duty crew) in almost everyday. One interesting afternoon with a Lithuanian girl who worked on one of the ships, but that story is for a different website. :o) As I said the staff is excellent for the attentive but not intrusive service and Trinidad the bartender by the pool was my favorite. He is always there to refresh my Margaritas and laughed at all my jokes. But seriously if your looking for a great place to stay that’s not too pricey but treats you like royalty get down to Sol Cabanas. I was planning my next visit on the plane ride home.

My husband and I have stayed here 3 times. The staff somehow remembers us each time. We have had welcome "flower art" by Elsie, the maid (towels and blossoms)in our room. The groundskeeper smiles good morning as I get my first cup of coffee to enjoy in the hammock. We usually dive in the mornings and then relax on the beach under the thatched cabanas in the afternoon. The restaurant is the only one one on Cozumel right on the water and we love our ceviche, guacamole and Dos Equis at lunchtime! We have met people from all over the world and hear lots of languages at Sol de Cabanas.
Rogelio and Luis and the guys at the restaurant make this place really special and we will keep going back!
