The distinguishing feature of this luxurious West Maui hotel is its 55,000-square-foot pool area. With five swimming pools and two water slides, it is almost- but not quite- enough to distract people from the magnificent beach just outside. The hotel occupies 12 oceanfront acres on famous Ka'anapali Beach near shops, restaurants and art galleries. The resort has four restaurants, live entertainment every night, a shopping arcade and several bars. It is a city within itself, conveniently located in the center of a vacation paradise.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Westin Maui Resort. The resort was everything we had hoped for....the rooms, the view, the beach, the pools, the service.... everything was beautifully designed and maintained. We did not want to leave! \n \nThe resort was close to Lahaina, Kahana, Napili and other communities, so there were several beaches nearby as well as restaurants. Plus, it is next to Whaler's Village, which made shopping very easy and enjoyable. \n \nOur only complaint is the daily resort fee of $18. I realize it covers parking, daily bottled water and access to the gym, however, those are courtesies that should be included in the nightly rate for staying at the hotel, not as an additional feel. \n \nWe will definitely be back!

05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserI stayed at the Maui Westin the first week in Dec. 2004. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, but was just a place to sleep for me. My reason for staying at the Westin is that this hotel is part of the Starwood Vacation Owners Program. Normally it would be too expensive for what they offer. \n \nI would have to say that the location of the hotel is excellent. The central location of the property on Ka’anapali Beach is unmatched. Close to Whalers Village. Short walk to the Best Restaurants on Ka’anapali Beach. Plus it is a nice walk to the Sheraton Hotel their sister property. \n \nThe beach was small. Once the sand got crowded with guest, we had to pack up and go somewhere else just to have room to relax. It’s good that Black Rock and the Sheraton Hotel were close enough to walk to. We spent most of time on the sand, at the Sheraton Resort. \n \nThe Westin does have a State of the art work out room and equipment. I would have to say that was the biggest plus for the hotel. \n \nWe didn’t eat at the restaurants at the Maui Westin. Hotel Restaurants are too expensive. Instead we walked just a few steps along the beach path to Whalers Village and ate at “Hula Grill” or at some of the other fine dinning establishments. \n \nMy biggest complaint was our room. We had an adjoining room, and the guest in that room was a chain smoker. The cigarette smoke would flow under the door between the room and fill our room. We asked to be moved, but all they had left was a room over the service entrance. We asked if they could move him instead, they declined. We stayed and suffered through it. Maybe that is why we didn’t spend much time at the hotel?
