Not all of the hotels serving visitors to Midtown are large high-rise structures—the West Park is a good example of one the many small but perfectly adequate "European-style" hotels available in the city. It has the added benefits of low rates and a central location. You are also close to

1. the room smelled1 \n2. the hotel has a sign put out for renovation. althought, no sign of improvement from the renovation as yet, there were noise from construction workers as early as 8am right in front of window of the room!
05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserAlthough the location of the hotel was good (right next to central park and Carnegie Hall), it was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. When we first arrived to our room it looked a little dusty and old, but not too bad. Eventually, after settling in, we noticed rips in the furniture and mold on the bathroom walls. At night the heating of the hotel would come on and off while making noises that kept us up. It was winter, so we did not notice any roaches or rats, but we suspect ticks in some of the beds (we found ourselves bitten all over). \nThe hotel managers were relativly nice, but were not very helpful. We would ask them for something, like to open the safe in our room, and they would say, "Sure, it'll be done by the time you get back." Yeah right, they did nothing. \nThe location is great, we walked everywhere, but our stay at the hotel was not pleasant, and I would not go there again.
05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserI stayed at this hotel in Sept. of '04. I have to say I was disgusted. The rooms were filthy, I saw evidence of mice and roaches, and the overall place was dilapidated. The staff did the best they could under the circumstances and they did not seem happy about it. I wanted to leave early but my stay was prepaid so I was stuck. In regards to their website........read with caution. It seems as if it is not exactly honest. The highlight of my stay was being handed official documents describing a serious crime committed by the general manager!!! There was a man in front of the hotel handing them out. Only in New York, but not the hotel for me.
