I stayed there with a group of 30 in April and it was just horrible. I was in a room with 2 other people on the 8th floor and 2 of us had to share a bed because we could get the third bed unfolded - there was no room. There were cracks in the bathroom walls and tiles, the carpet was shabby and the window had probably never been cleaned. Half our TV channels didn't work either. The others on different floors didn't have it much better, although some groups of 4 had huge rooms. To top it all off, several different people heard mice in their rooms, and one girl actually saw one. They moved those people into better rooms, but it still shouldn't have happened. And it took us ages to figure out where the stairs where - hidden behind unmarked doors - not good if there had been a fire! The hotel looks respectable from the extravagant lobby, but don't be fooled. The elevators were the only good point - we never had to wait long for one to take us down away from those rooms, although they kept giving electric shocks when I pressed the button because of the nylon carpet. The cafe and shop prices were high too, and the internet point wasn't working. All in all, great location, but there's plenty of better hotels just a few minutes further from Macy's.
14 Jun 2007 | A Yahoo! UserFirst time at Hotel. Person at check-in was very friendly/helpful. Had problems with the TV (couldn't get basic channels - e.g. CBS, ABC, NBC, etc.). If needing a future hotel would consider this hotel again but, probably would not be the first choice.
05 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserWe stayed there in early April 2005. For those on a very tight budget and a great ability to go with the flow, this hotel could work. If you can afford to spend more but can't afford luxury find another hotel. The location is great and our room and the closet were enormous, but everything about the accommodations -- carpeting, blinds, furniture, wall paper, plumbing fixtures, TV set, paint, curtains, etc. were very shabby and dismal. The whole place is in dire need of renovation, including the plumbing and electrical. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone whose visit to NYC is a once in a life time experience. Our family gave this a try and it was bearable for 3 nights because we maintained a sense of humor and spirit of adventure about the whole experience. Avoid the 8th floor unless you enjoy having your sleep disturbed by maids calling out loudly to each other in the corridors in the early morning. The water pressure in the shower was literally a fire hose -- actually would be dangerous to a child or elderly person.
