More and Maps
This luxury property, formerly the Aston Wailea, was lovely to begin with. After a 25-million facelift, the hotel is a sight to behold. Located in one of the most beautiful resort districts in all the world, this hotel is known for its gorgeous garden setting and excellent guest services. Hotel guests can enjoy massage, tennis, crafts workshops and nightly live entertainment. Jet-lagged travelers can kick back and relax on a serene private lanai, a gorgeous patch of beach or a whirlpool spa. Three restaurants and a lounge offer everything from frozen drinks to fresh local seafood.

We have just returned from 2 weeks here, the fourth consecutive year we have stayed at this property. As somebody else observed, you have everything that makes Wailea desirable for far less money, especially if you quality for Marriott's senior rates. \nFrom what I have seen on this and AOL's similar site, it does matter what room you get. Some were remodeled four years ago and some seem to be older than that. We were in a handicapped-accessible room that was remodeled and even it was a bit the worse for wear. \nThe public areas are spotless, however, and with the exception of one slightly surly front desk clerk, the staff ranged from friendly and helpful to very cordial and almost obsequious. \nAvoid the restaurants, though, except for breakfast. The buffet is great. Room service food, surprisingly, is very good. \nThe bad news is that they are starting a major upgrade this month, to compete with the Grand Wailea, next door, and they DO plan to compete in rates as well.
06 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! Userwe upgraded to the Maui Prince in Makena...we asked for ocean view..but you had to look thru the trees...and it was just the ocean and the top of the maintenance hut...there were 2 cats always at the pool so I did not spend a lot of time there..the front desk rep remembered us from last year which was great..and the housekeeping crew were excellent...be careful because you can receive a $100 credit towards food/gift shop..which we did not receive because of a missing internet code
06 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserStaff is friendly. \nEvening/Night walking on ocean walkway is the best on the Island. Great views of the whale, in season. Have stayed here 4 times.
