Centrally located and owned by a local family, this place is great for your family. Rooms are comfortable and attractive. Many of them feature ocean views. This hotel and its sister property are the only two Hawaiian-owned hotels on the island. The staff is primarily members of Uncle Billy's family, and they do their utmost to extend genuine Aloha spirit to every guest. It is situated in downtown Kona/Kailua, within easy walking distance of the beach, shops, restaurants and a score of activities.

We can't wait to go back

I loved it it was clean 1 minuite walk from the beach... NOT!!! it was a pain.. P.s NEVER go in november.. EPECALLY the first few weeks! thats when schools go!!

fair for the price

Uncle Billy's Hotel is an older resort right on Alii Dr., a busy street in Kona. Surprisingly I did not note any Cockroches in the hotel room and it seemed clean in general. It can be noisy for visitors who have their rooms located by the street, so bring earplugs. The access to many shops and restaurants makes this location convenient for travellers, but if you're looking for a resort that is close to the beach, I would suggest a different location, perhaps further north on this island.

A great price, but wouldn't recommend it....

Two star rating is extremely generous. This hotel is closer to a one star. The rooms very, very old, a major renovation is required. The rooms were appauling - everything from the furniture, chairs, linens, and towels must be at least twenty years old. We were never comfortable there.

Only positive was the friendly, outgoing staff, but there is only so much they can do.

You get what you pay for.
