This hotel is one of Aspen's historic treasures left over from the heydays of the Silver Boom. Jerome Wheeler (hence the name) built the hotel, and it opened with a grand gala in 1889. When silver crashed, so did the hotel and it struggled to stay afloat throughout the 1900s. Of course, when Aspen became the ski hub of the stars, the hotel received a second life. But it was not until the late 1980s that a complete restoration catapulted the hotel to new heights of luxury. The spacious suites look like something straight out of Victorian England. This is one of the most outstanding hotel experiences in the world! \n \nAspen is a unique locale and the Hotel staff seems particularily interested in making sure your stay is incredible and you depart wanting to get back asap. \n \nVery comfortable, very accomodating, even the ride to and from the airport was enjoyable. \n \nAnd the food was the best I've ever eaten. \nWhat a great place to relax and enjoy
06 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserI stayed at the Jerome for several days in January 2003. The staff was exceptional. The rooms great. The "J" Bar, although small, was lively and the staff friendly. The restaurant was exquisite. The only reason for the poor rating was because the hot water was shut off for several hours in the afternoon. This was done without warning or explanation. I was just glad this did not happen in the middle of my shower.
06 Jun 2005 | A Yahoo! UserI have visited this historic hotel on a number of occasions and it has always been a great expierence. The staff are professional while being personable and engaging. The food, especially the braised lamb shank, is excellent. If you go to Aspen I recommend the Jerome.
