More and Maps
Set apart from the Wailea hotels, this resort on the southern tip of Maui is close to Makena State Park. Rooms at the Prince are large, comfortable and well equipped. Each new arrival is given a complimentary basket of local snacks. With four restaurants, several lounges, a lovely solarium and a spacious marble foyer, this hotel is a study in opulence. The secluded beach and lush garden areas give it a relaxing, tranquil air.

Nice hotel, great garden area and great access to basically a private beach. Most hotels nearby are way more expensive and don't really have great beach access. Hotel is not fancy but good enough since you shouldn't be spending that much time there anyways it's maui for god sakes!
05 Jun 2005 | peper24@sbcglobal.netWe stayed there over July 4th weekend and had a great time. The hotel is secluded away from the main Wailea hotels, which is very nice if that's what you're looking for. There is a small private beach which gets pretty covered at high tide. The pool is nice, though small. The rooms are very spacious and the oceanside views are fantastic. I was told that the Maui Prince was one of the first resorts built in that part of Maui and that's why it's a bit older than the others.
05 Jun 2005 | rchungmanA treasure on the makena beach. It has an excellent beach that is not accessible by other hotel guest. It is however a public beach, but you don't see much locals there. Hotel is very quiet, and there's not much to do at night, but it's definitely a relaxing locale. Best bet is to stay a couple of nights on Kaanapali if you like people watching, and a busy beach front strip and then wind down the rest of your holiday at the Maui Prince. The hotel is immaculate and serves a lot of Japanese tourist. Concierge are multilingual (in Japanese, of course). All rooms face the ocean, and have a balcony. It's best to ask for a high floor so no palm trees will block your ocean view. Hotel is energy efficient - air conditioning will turn off when your patio door is not completely shut. All guest will get a shelled lei on arrival. An execellent hotel, great for a quiet time in Hawaii.
