The sister property of the Kona Bay Hotel, this is a great family hotel. The recently refurbished rooms are pleasant and comfortable. Situated directly on Hilo Bay, the hotel is moments away from shops, restaurants, attractions and the city center. Driving north, one will reach waterfalls and botanical gardens; southwesterly is Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. A Polynesian theme prevails throughout the property-free nightly hula shows contribute to the atmosphere.

Great stay at Uncle Billy's

First of all we had a better than expected stay at Uncle Billy's Hilo Bay Resort. There were many negative reviews out there, thought set the record straight. There were no problems with our room everything functioned perfectly. Everything looked old but it was well kept. We would get daily maid service with fresh towels and cleaning of the room. This is definetly value for money. Without wasting so much money on your room you are better off spending them on sightseeing trips. The only problem was that there is no nice beach next to the hotel just a bunch of rocks so swimming can be hard. The restaurent was fun with the daily Houla shows but the food was not the best. Not much of variety and expensive. So it would be better to eat out at different places. \n \nOverall I would say our stay was just great and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Very disappointed........

The dirtiest rooms we had during a 3 week trip around the islands. Infested with bugs and ants. 2" gaps around in wall air-conditioner and windows that did not shut. A queen sized mattress on a king sized headboard. I was killing insects all night long on the bedside table. We were supposed to stay for 3 nights but left after only 1 night. We only stayed that 1 night because it was too late to find another room somewhere else. We did enjoy the restaurant. The food was fairly good and the entertainment was very good. We would never go there again.
